Day 39

Stone Age Etiquette part 2 :
When bringing flowers to one's prospective betrothed, it is better to resist the eating of the flowers one brings her. Instead, wrap them up in a moist leaf to keep them fresh for her to eat them at her leisure.

Day 36

The evolution from the Eastern Small Fox to the Spotty Fox we know and love was no easy ride. First transition was into an Argumentative Fenneck with big ears and an even bigger temper. About 30,000 years ago the ears had shrunk again but the Big Bellied Flipper Handed Fox had extremely unruly spots and was incredibly clumsy. Fortunately these were all minor growing pains, by 20,000 years ago Vulpes Varius Erectus Sapiens Spotto had arrived.

100 day project day 1

Doctor Horace Singlebloom, author of the illustrated Evolution and History of Spottyland and other popular titles such as Maypole weaving for Ducks, was an educated shrub. He only emerged from his studies at the height of Summer when he was fully leaved. His career was illustrious, although being quite shy, he never went to award ceremonies. His works have been required reading for all students in Spottyland for over 100 years.

Poor Squirrel

They all gradually woke up to the delicious smells of one of Stripey's famous Sunday roast nut dinners. Little Bun was trying to get Squirrel to come but he was still very upset by the tranquilliser dart episode and he went and hid in his room. Oh dear, Little Bun was getting worried that perhaps he was suffering from post traumatised squirrel disorder.

Let's go fly a kite...

The rain stopped for a bit so they trooped up to the top of Foxton Beacon and tried out the flying kit they had given the squirrel for Christmas. He loved it and said he could see for miles ! Little Bun and Spotty weren't quite sure it was all that safe.

A quiet day

It was a busy day in the Spotty household. Meep nipped in from the kitchen where she was busy making mince pies. Stripey was busy knitting Christmas stockings for all the animals, including the hedgehogs and the owlets. Little Bun and the Squirrel were "helping", and Spotty was in the garden encouraging his Christmas tree by singing carols to it.

The Christmas tree part 3

Stripey soon got Meep and little Bun making garlands and painting and glittering a big piece of paper on the table. They even put a Santa hat on Bertie. The only one who wasn't enjoying himself was the squirrel. He was in the midst of a dilemma. Should he paint the acorns they had given him to decorate or go and hide them somewhere ?

Bertie is unsatisfied

Spotty explained to Meep very gently that Meep should have asked him about the sheets and that it was wrong to exploit her friends. Meep was really very sorry. She said little Bunny and the squirrel were squatting under the shed, they had no home and it was cold and didn't have much to eat. Spotty immediately said to bring them in ! There was plenty of room in his house ! Meep should cook them all a nice hot meal, by herself this time.

Bertie was not happy, Spotty was far too soft.

The Diva part 6

Meep had been pacing up and down all morning waiting for a book she had ordered from Limpopo to arrive. Now she was avidly reading it, from cover to cover.

The Diva part 5

Samantha had managed to coax a note or two from Meep and at the end of the evening she announced the audition results. Spotty got a solo as did Mrs Crimwallop and then there was a collective gasp as Samantha said that Meep and Bertie would do a duet, together.

The Diva part 4

Poor Meep ! When Samantha called her up her legs turned to jelly and she wished the floor could swallow her up. The few notes she managed to squeeze out were all wobbly and squeaky. Bertie looked very smug.

On top of the world

The party went on all night. At dawn Spotty and Stripey slipped away to watch the sunrise. Meep watched them. What was Spotty doing ? Oh.....right. Meep thought it was the soppiest thing she'd ever seen.

Day 67

Ms Crimwallop made Meep do all the washing up and had her vacuum all around the house with five minutes to spare before Spotty was due back.

Day 66

Bertie got very worried about the situation in Spotty's house. He managed to call his assistant librarian, Ms Crimwallop, who promised to come straight away and sort Meep out. Poor Meep.

Day 53

In the middle of the night, Harriet the smallest hedgehog, decided to make some modifications to Obie. She took out all his chips and replaced them with fresh ones from the freezer.
